A large amount of these i had copied from my CD collection over the last few years in my spare time. I would like any input on saving my tunes because normally you can recover deleted files, multiple ways. Also one folder of a song i Bought from itunes, has no song in it but shows that it takes up more memmory.
I right clicked in the folder and it says the purchase time of this song has expired?!?!?! I hope it isnt true and was just drunk talk by upper apple execs but if its true...........
Apple apparently walked back those statements in a follow-up phone call to Pinkstone.
The company's full statement today also makes clear that file deletion is not an intended function of the company's streaming service: In an extremely small number of cases users have reported that music files saved on their computer were removed without their permission.
“We’re taking these reports seriously as we know how important music is to our customers and our teams are focused on identifying the cause.
We have not been able to reproduce this issue, however, we’re releasing an update to i Tunes early next week which includes additional safeguards.
No, seriously." The post, which went viral, detailed how Pinkstone's library of 122GB of music suddenly disappeared.
While storing a personal music collection remotely is attractive to some users, Pinkstone’s experience highlights several problems with the idea, particularly for truly dedicated music fans.
He says rare and unique files, such as song demos, were misidentified as later versions of songs, then deleted.
An Apple technician later contacted him and told him this was not true, and that the deletion was likely a bug.
Apple’s reference to “additional safeguards” hints that some users may simply be unwittingly activating an option to upload their libraries to the cloud, and that the update will make that choice clearer.
